AOL Loses 300 Customers An Hour

From the Light Reading article –

“As of September 30, the AOL service totaled 20.1 million U.S. members, a decline of 678,000 from the prior quarter and 2.6 million from the year-ago quarter. In Europe, the AOL service had 6.1 million members, a decrease of 98,000 from the previous quarter and a decline of 170,000 from last year’s quarter. For a business of any size to lose 678,000 customers in three months — that’s more than 300 subscribers an hour — you have to be doing something wrong. Maybe everything.”

If AOL goes away tomorrow, I could care less. It is an abomination.

This Woman Is Fucking Stupid

Here’s a link to an Associated Press/CNN story about a woman – Tina Marie Stebbins - who has decided to still marry her jailed boyfriend – Christian Leroy Lindblad, 37.

That’s not the stupid part.

Lindblad was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting her in the groin (IN THE GROIN!!!) back in June 2002. He also held her captive in his family’s garage for six days.

“I love Christian today as deeply as I loved him before this awful thing happened to us.”

Also, “I want to tell you all that I have forgiven Christian. And I pray that Christian has forgiven me for failing him when he needed me most.”

Guy Exchanges Computer Repair For Sex

Sync has a short piece about a 34-year-old guy named “Ray Digerati” who placed an ad of Craig’s list that said “WILL FIX COMPUTERS FOR SEXUAL FAVORS,” and he says it’s been non-stop action ever since.

“Most of the calls I get are for spyware removal and viruses. One girl didn’t even wait for me to finish the virus scan—she just grabbed me and gave me a blow job.”

Do you have a set, um, pay scale?
“No, I leave it up to their discretion. One girl didn’t want to have intercourse, so she offered me a massage and then finished me off with a hand job. It’s basically all about the time I spend: If I’m working for one or two hours, I’d like a blow job. An orgasm for every two hours of service is pretty fair. If it’s something simple that I can fix in 15 minutes, I’d like to get a foot massage.”

Hot Math Student Folds Paper 12 Times

Britney Gallivan has solved the Paper Folding Problem. This well known challenge was to fold paper in half more than seven or eight times, using paper of any size or shape.

In April of 2005 Britney’s success was mentioned on the prime time CBS television show Numb3rs.

The task was commonalty known to be impossible. Over the years the problem has been discussed by many people, including mathematicians and has been demonstrated to be impossible on TV.

For extra credit in a math class Britney was given the challenge to fold anything in half 12 times. After extensive experimentation, she folded a sheet of gold foil 12 times, breaking the record. This was using alternate directions of folding. But, the challenge was then redefined to fold a piece of paper. She studied the problem and was the first person to realize the basic cause for the limits. She then derived the folding limit equation for any given dimension. Limiting equations were derived for the case of folding in alternate directions and for the case of folding in a single direction using a long strip of paper. The merits of both folding approaches are discussed, but for high numbers of folds, single direction folding requires less paper.

I Mourn The Loss Of Eddie Guerrero

I’m in shock… I’ve watched former WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero from his Mexican roots, New Japan, ECW, WCW and on both WWE Raw and Smackdown. He always had a good match and he was just becoming one of the finest wrestling superstars to grace a ring. I pray for you, Eddie. I pray for your family, your friends and your extended family.

Programmer Working On GTA III For NES

Game programmer Brian Provinciano is making a homemade 8-bit port of Grand Theft Auto III called “Grand Theftendo” for use in NES emulators. Although unfinished, the game is written entirely in Assembly. Here’s an excerpt from his website –

“Grand Theftendo is a new homebrew game for the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is a tribute to Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto III running on the 8 bit, 256×240 resolution, 2 bit colour x 2 bit palette, 1.79 Mhz system, written entirely in 6502 Assembly Language!”

That’s cool as hell! I can’t wait for the finished product.
